Gambling problems on the increase in the UK
Nearly three quarters of adults in the UK engaged in gambling last year, a survey for the Gambling Commission found. The proportion of what the regulator calls 'problem gamblers' has also increased.
Two different systems for measuring if the gambler had a problem were used. They looked for a variety of behaviours ranging from 'chasing losses' where the person makes more bets in an attempt to win back money already lost, to robbery to fund a gambling habit.
